I have enjoyed arts and crafts all my life but have finally decided, being fully retired and having fewer commitments to take art and myself seriously.
This stage of my career is about being bold and pushing boundaries, experimenting and exploring, trusting my instincts and being true to myself, but most of all having the freedom to express myself freely.

I have enjoyed arts and crafts all my life but have finally decided, fully retired and having fewer commitments, to take art and myself seriously.
Having previously worked as a garden designer, I returned to art with a heightened understanding of immersive three-dimensional environments but expressed in a neat and graphic style. I struggled initially to become a freed-up-messy-have-a-go at everything mature Foundation Diploma Student but succeeded passing with Distinction. Inspired and confident to take it further I committed to full-time study with the Open University earning myself a Bachelor of Arts Degree, with First Class Honours.
During those three years of intense research and learning I studied painting, sculpture, printing and alternative media, growing both as a person and as an artist. I developed a strong interest in photography, film, sound - the most immersive and sensory of art forms.
Of late I have renewed my lifelong interest in textiles, rediscovered mono print and collage and am now enjoying a mixed-media expressionist approach to making art. I work intuitively, allowing things to develop slowly, one action leading to ideas for the next. Often it is all about the detail and in this I aim to capture emotion and the spirit of a thing.
